Christian Nationalism Jesus: The Dear John Letter
Hey Maga, We Need to Talk About Your Jesus

The version of Jesus y’all been parading around like he’s some campaign mascot?
That Jesus is wearing camo, hugging an AR-15, and apparently only shows up to photo ops and gun shows.
You’ve turned Love into legislation.
You’ve turned compassion into culture war.
And worst of all? You keep stamping his name on things he’d flip a table over.
So yeah – this is the Dear John letter.
We’re finished.
Let’s Look at Some of This Years' Headlines, Shall We?
1. Oklahoma’s Top Educator Is Requiring Bibles in Public Schools.
Because nothing says “freedom” like mandatory scripture in math class.
Meanwhile, Jesus already covered how He feels about performative religion:
“Woe to you, teachers of the law… you shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces.” (Matthew 23:13)
But y’all keep waving your Bibles while locking out your neighbors.
Jesus isn’t your school mascot. He’s the rebel who taught love, not forced theology before recess.
2. Trump’s ‘Faith Office’ Is Stacked With Christian Nationalists.
You baptized corruption and called it leadership.
You want prayer in schools but forget that Jesus prayed in the streets – with outcasts, refugees, and the folks your policies crush daily.
Jesus wasn’t building empires. He said it plain:
“My kingdom is not of this world… if it were, my servants would fight.” (John 18:36)
But sure, build your empire in His name.
Spoiler alert: He’s not voting for you.
3. Pastors Bless Bombs Over Iran.
Because nothing screams Christ-like love like airstrikes.
You cheer for violence while preaching peace on Sunday. Meanwhile, Jesus said:
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)
Funny how “peacemaker” gets quiet when the missiles fly.
4. Posting ‘In God We Trust’ in Classrooms and Courtrooms.
Y’all are stapling religious slogans to walls like it’ll cover up injustice.
But Jesus?
“When you pray, go into your room, close the door… your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.” (Matthew 6:6)
He wasn’t performing faith for the cameras. He lived it loud without the legislative fanfare.
5. Christian Nationalism Linked to Political Violence.
You stormed the Capitol waving crosses while chanting about liberty… and Jesus wept.
The same Jesus who told Peter:
“Put your sword away… all who draw the sword will die by the sword.” (Matthew 26:52)
But your rallies? Your policies? Your pulpits?
They’re dripping in the same violence Jesus spent His life rejecting.
This Is the Breakup
I’m done having your Christian Nationalist Jesus confused with the real one.
The real Jesus turned over tables, not governments.
He healed the sick, not stripped healthcare.
He welcomed strangers, not banned refugees.
He lifted up the poor, not blessed billionaires.
So when you prop up empire and slap a fish sticker on it?
Count me out.
Isaiah couldn’t have been clearer:
“Woe to those who make unjust laws… to deny justice to the oppressed.” (Isaiah 10:1-2)
But here y’all are, passing bills and baptizing oppression.
Where I Stand
I’ll walk with the brown-skinned, empire-challenging, foot-washing Jesus.
The one who loved the least of these.
The one who never once waved a flag, carried a weapon, or passed a bill to exclude his neighbor.
You can keep your Christian Nationalist Jesus.
You can baptize your bigotry in red, white, and blue.
But don’t expect me to play along with you.
Because the real Jesus?
He wouldn’t prop up an empire.
He wouldn’t bless the bombs or the billionaires.
He wouldn’t lock out refugees or legislate away your neighbor’s rights.
The real Jesus?
He’d flip your tables.
He’d march with the excluded.
He’d stand in the street with the ones your policies push to the margins.
And he’d call it Love.
Not a “liberal agenda.”
You can keep your empire-approved, sanitized, power-hungry version.
I’ll take the scarred, boundary-breaking, justice-breathing one.
Because the real Jesus?
He’s not here to make America Christian.
He’s here to make Love matter again.
