The Gospel of Greed and White Power: Trump 2.0 Ain’t Even Pretending

Two Goals, One Grift: Protect the Power, Praise the Profit

Funny thing about fascism in America – it always comes dressed in a flag, carrying a Bible it’s never read, and promising to “restore greatness” to a country built on stolen land and enslaved labor.

And here we are again, y’all.

Trump 2.0 is back on the campaign trail – louder, meaner, and somehow even less subtle than last time. And if you strip away the smoke and slogans, you’ll find the same two goals driving just about every policy, promise, and petty outburst:

Make the rich richer. Keep America white and conservative.

That’s it. That’s the whole platform. The rest is just MAGA glitter and grievance glue.

Let’s break it down:

1. Make the Rich Richer (and the Poor Shut Up About It)

Trump’s economic vision is basically a prosperity sermon for billionaires.

  • 2017 Tax Cuts: His signature achievement handed nearly 83% of the benefits to the top 1%. Corporate tax rates dropped from 35% to 21%. Meanwhile, working folks got crumbs and a ticking clock – most of their breaks expire soon, while the corporate ones are permanent.

  • Promised Round Two: Trump is already promising a second wave of tax cuts. Translation: more yachts, fewer schools. More stock buybacks, fewer paychecks.

  • Deregulation Bonanza: He gutted environmental protections so oil execs could cash in while the rest of us choke on smoke and rising seas. Rolled back labor protections so CEOs could squeeze more from workers. And stripped consumer safeguards so banks could gamble with your money again.

This ain’t economic populism. It’s feudalism with better branding.

2. Keep America White (and Scared)

Every fascist movement needs a scapegoat, and Trump’s got a whole roster: immigrants, Black voters, LGBTQ+ folks, college students, teachers, librarians, and anyone who won’t kneel at the altar of Christian nationalism.

  • Immigration Policy as Ethnic Engineering: He’s promised to revive the Muslim ban, end birthright citizenship, and launch mass deportation forces that even “The Handmaid’s Tale” writers would’ve thought too dystopian. This isn’t border security – it’s a white nationalist wishlist.

  • Census Manipulation: His previous efforts to add a citizenship question to the census? That wasn’t about data. It was about gerrymandering white conservative power into permanence.

  • Education Censorship: CRT bans. Book bans. Banning the truth itself. They’re not just afraid of history – they’re afraid of a generation that learns from it.

  • Voter Suppression: His lies about voter fraud laid the groundwork for dozens of state-level laws restricting ballot access, especially in Black and brown communities. And don’t forget the full-on attempt to overturn the 2020 election by pressuring state officials to “find votes.” That's not democracy – that’s a coup in a red tie.

  • Christian Nationalist Court Packing: Trump stacked the judiciary with extremists. The results? Roe v. Wade gutted. LGBTQ+ rights on the chopping block. Workers’ rights rolled back. Affirmative action dead. One unelected body enforcing minority rule – just how the founders (of the Confederacy) intended.

3. And the Rest? Just Distractions

The culture war nonsense – Mr. Potato Head’s gender, woke M&Ms, drag bans, diversity in Star Wars, and banning transgender people from bathrooms, sports, and public life – none of it makes anybody’s life better.

But it sure keeps folks distracted while billionaires pickpocket the nation.

This is the oldest trick in the authoritarian playbook: Invent a threat. Stoke a panic. Consolidate power. Cash in.

And somehow, half the country cheers like it’s professional wrestling instead of the dismantling of democracyLet’s say it plain:

Let’s say it plain:

Trump 2.0 isn’t a reboot – it’s a sequel to America’s worst impulses.

And if your politics are about enriching the elite and preserving white conservative power at all costs?

You’re not leading a movement.
You’re just whitewashing empire.

So let’s stop acting shocked.
Let’s start calling it what it is.

And, if you’d rather not wrestle with empire on a Sunday?
You might already be worshiping it.
