The Womb is Not a Battlefield

Let’s stop pretending.

Conservative leadership in this country simply is not gently encouraging family values. They are aggressively weaponizing wombs. And the Bible is their blunt-force tool of choice.

It starts in the pulpits where the theology of Love has been replaced with the theology of obedience. Christian Nationalist theology preaches that women are designed by God to be submissive baby factories. They cherry-pick verses, slap them on a Hobby Lobby sign, and call it sacred. It’s not. It’s patriarchy in Sunday drag.

They talk about being “pro-life” but push policies that only value life until the umbilical cord is cut. After that? Good luck.

And here's the kicker: this isn't just bad theology. It's a full-blown strategy.

TACTIC #1: FORCED BIRTH LAWS

Forget “life.” These laws are about power.

Overturning Roe was the beginning.

Now we’ve got states criminalizing abortion so hard that even medical emergencies are up for theological debate. Some states are even threatening to monitor pregnancies like parole officers with a pregnancy policing unit.

Bans without exceptions.
Vigilante enforcement.
Doctors too scared to act.

It’s not pro-life. It’s pro-control.

TACTIC #2: ATTACKS ON CONTRACEPTION

Let’s be real: if this were about preventing abortion, they’d be handing out birth control like Halloween candy.

Instead, they’re going after IUDs, Plan B, and even your basic everyday pills. Because it was never about reducing abortion. It was about eliminating reproductive freedom.

Why? Because contraception lets women decide their own futures. And that terrifies them.

TACTIC #3: ECONOMIC PRESSURE

They set women up to fail and then blame them for falling. No paid family leave. No universal childcare. Wages too low to raise a dog, let alone a kid. And don't even get me started on healthcare costs.

And still, they ask, “Why aren't women having more children?”

Because they’ve built a country where giving birth is a financial death sentence. That’s not family values. That’s forced dependency.

TACTIC #4: CHRISTIAN NATIONALIST THEOLOGY

Here's where the script gets sanctimonious. They preach “be fruitful and multiply” like it’s a national fertility mandate.

The pulpit turns into a breeding command center. Women are told their highest calling is motherhood – not if they want it, not when they’re ready, but always.

It’s theology written by men drunk on dominionism and nostalgia for the 1950s. But make no mistake: this isn’t about God. It’s about control dressed up in a choir robe.

TACTIC #5: ANTI-LGBTQ+ LEGISLATION

Conservatives say they care about “the family.” What they mean is the nuclear, white, hetero, evangelical family. Anything outside of that? Targeted, banned, or erased.

Queer families challenge their fragile mold of what family should look like. So they legislate us out of existence. Because Love that doesn’t come with a patriarchal headship? That’s a threat to their kingdom.

TACTIC #6: INDOCTRINATION THROUGH EDUCATION

Book bans. Curriculum whitewashing. Abstinence-only “education.”

They’re not just controlling bodies – they’re controlling minds. They know that if a generation learns consent, autonomy, and justice, the whole empire of fear starts to crumble.

So they muzzle teachers. Rewrite textbooks. And pretend that silence is safer than the truth.

TACTIC #7: DEMOGRAPHIC FEARMONGERING

Ever hear whispers of the “Great Replacement Theory” in political rhetoric? That’s not just fringe nonsense anymore – it's policy-influencing propaganda.

They want more babies – but not just any babies. They want more white, Christian, American-born babies. That’s why immigration is demonized while birth rates become national concern.

It’s racism in a onesie.

TACTIC #8: FAKE PRAISE FOR MOTHERHOOD

They love to glorify mothers... right up until it’s time to actually support them.

No maternal healthcare.
No postpartum care.
No mental health resources.
No affordable housing.

But hey, here’s a free onesie that says “God's Littlest Warrior.”

Their praise is a leash.
Their admiration is a muzzle.

Because what they want isn’t motherhood – it’s obedience.

Here’s the truth: 

They don’t want more children because they love families. They want more children because it keeps the machine running – the machine that feeds capitalism, reinforces patriarchy, and manufactures future foot soldiers for their culture war.

And the ones who suffer most? Women. Queer folks. People of color. Anyone who dares to claim their body as their own.

But here's the good news: we don’t have to play along.

We can name it.
We can fight it.
We can build a world where Love looks like liberation – not legislation.

Because the womb is not a battlefield. And it sure as hell isn’t government property.
